We’ve all heard the phrase, “Refilling the Well.” That especially includes the creative well. Usually, I fill mine with what’s most dear to my heart, extended time with family.
My 84-year-old parents drove from Minnesota to our house in Arizona (can we say amazing?!?) where they stayed for two weeks before taking me back to our Colorado house where they visited with their grandkids and greatgrands. My husband stayed in Arizona to work on the kitchen countertops and arrived back in Colorado a week after we did.Â
That all said, I lost three days of family time when I ended up in the hospital for three days for what they thought was a stroke. After numerous tests–and too much blood (I asked the second phlebotomist to please leave me some, LOL!) a brain stroke was ruled out and I’m scheduled for an MRI at the end of this month. The good news is I can still read and write without issue. Woo! Hoo! Life is so good!Â
Here are a few pictures of time with family: a couple of my amazing parents, one of all the March birthday celebrants in our family, and, of course, a snapshot of my exceptionally loved furry kiddo, Roscoe, hugging his toy.Â

It’s always difficult for me to get back into a writing routine after taking an extended break, but this time I’m itching to get back to it with renewed energy and motivation. It probably helps that I’ve enrolled in Sarra Cannon’s HB90 Course (enrollment ends March 17th), and I’m so excited! Sarra has a unique energy and desire to help other authors that I haven’t quite found in anyone else. Hop on over there and take a look and maybe I’ll see you in the forums.
I’m so grateful for the writing life allowing me to spend time on what’s most important to me, family, faith, and writing.
If you’re an author, what is the one thing you like most about it? What do you do to refill your well, creative or otherwise?
