Not only is February known for Valentine’s Day, it’s American Heart Month
I gotta be honest, for as much as I used to “love” Valentine’s Day, I’ve come to not “like” it so much. It’s a day that’s become so commercialized, not to mention making those not in a romantic relationship feel left out and lonely. Instead, why don’t we realign our view of Valentine’s Day by celebrating it every single day by making a point of showing our spouse, kids, grandkids, friends, etc, that they’re loved? Now that’s something I could get behind 100%!
American Heart Month became personal to me several years ago when I wound up with a pacemaker for symptomatic bradycardia, followed by a cardiac ablation procedure for AFib merely a year later. Following that, I still take two medications for breakthrough AFib and tachycardia. I’m proof that heart problems hold no discrimination. I was barely 50 years of age, led a very active and healthy lifestyle, was not overweight or had any other health issues, my cholesterol was excellent, etc. That said, had I not had a healthy heart muscle when my heart’s electricity decided to malfunction, I likely wouldn’t be writing this email. Please, please, please, be good to your heart. Exercise, eat well, and pay attention to how you’re feeling. You are your best advocate for your health.
