Happy New Year!

Remember when we were rolling up on 2000 (Y2K) and we were sure the world was going to end? Or was that just me? There was so much hype about computers not being able to make the changeover and what it would do, that now looking back, it seems so silly. (But then, George Orwell’s book,1984, freaked me out too, only to realize we’ve been “there” for a while now. Eek!)
I’m coming up on 60 this year (Gulp!) and have done some intensive planning to make it my year of success. To be honest, when I retired from the DA’s office three years ago, my self-discipline and wearing makeup retired too. The makeup is staying retired, the self-discipline, not. I spent significant time figuring out what it is I want to do with my writing career, and I’m so excited to get that going. The first step was to carve out a time block each day of the week, one that is reasonable and I can–and will–stick to, and plan projects that fit into that timeframe. Typically, I think I have a lot more time than I actually do or will reasonably stick with long-term, and I planned for that unrealistic goal. Ironically I got less done because I felt more defeated when I couldn’t follow through.
Enter 2025 and Project 60.
This year will bring some side hustles to my author business and I’m so excited to roll them out! Stay tuned for further updates!
Despite getting off to a slow start because of traveling to Minnesota, I factored that into my schedule, so I’m not behind. Feels amazing! Leaving the winter wonderland beauty was hard, the cold, not so much.

The reason for the “vacation” was to spend time with my sisters and my parents. One of my sisters is going through chemo for breast cancer and I was blessed to go with her to her treatment one day. She is a 3rd degree blackbelt in karate and her years of discipline have turned her into a true warrior. Add to that she loves to laugh and have fun. Who knew chemo could be a laughing matter–my sister made it just that!

It was also an honor to celebrate my dad’s 85th birthday with him.

And then there was cherished time with my best friend and soul sister. I’m so blessed!
(You might be wondering why the coffee cup picture. It’s a favorite of mine and my other sister. We’ve had a long-standing race over who gets the cup. So when I know she’s coming over to my parents’ house, I hide it and send her taunting pictures of it when she’s not there. LOL! It’s the simple things…)
